Kassia's Art, Poetry, and other Writings

The Game
by Kassia Halteman, age 16

You're caught in the tension, pulled by the strain
You tried but then failed to avoid the pain

Confused you move on, time is almost gone
You must roll the dice or pay the fair price

You may choose not to play the game, but you’re in it just the same
It's the same old pace, we are all in this race

Without the pain there in no game
The game is life.

To Die Lost
The sad ending for those who die without Christ
by Kassia Halteman, age 17

The Devil's Snare

Attracted by beauty and riches and fame
She goes for the bait of the devil’s game
All seems right and all seems fair
She’s unaware of the hidden snare
When least expected the monster will bite
Yet deceived she laughs with drunken delight
Torn and bleeding from it’s razor claws
She stumbles then walks on into open jaws

In Death

In the mid of life the death bell rang
"Your life is mine", the devil sang
Fading eyes and dying breath
The chill of blood in the grip of death
Scream of the living, cry of the dead
A life is ended, a soul has fled

The Killer

Fear my battle, it's war cry rang
Red stained claws and bloody fangs
The love of life, no fear of death
Piercing eyes and sickening breath
Laugh of the killer, plea of the dead
Ruler of darkness, no fear, no dread

The Living Dead

Out of the darkness echoes the ceaseless cries
Of the tormented souls, trapped in their eternal demise

Poor wretched beings who once walked with pride
Now screaming with terror, from the evil they can not hide
Though their bodies burn they can not die
No water to drink, No air to breath, no tears to cry
Unbearable is their sorrow and the stench of lasting death
They have no hope, no purpose, no breath
Aimless and lost under this earth they now tread
These are the souls of the lifeless, and the living dead

Creatures of Under Earth
These are imaginary creatures I created for a home video
by Kassia Halteman, age 17

The Devils Dog

It howls the song of the dying soul
Its eyes are blazing black as coal
Seeking trouble and evil dire
Its tongue a flame, a lapping fire
The smell of doom is on its breath
Hunter of souls, the hound of death

Feline of Demise

She guides the way that leads to Hell
Sorsa, magician of the devil’s spell
An air of mystery, black queen of the night
Purring she mocks at those in the light
With a glint in her eyes and a twitch of her tail
She leads many souls along the death trail

Doom Dragon

In the dark of night a whirlwind strikes
With scales like steel and razor spikes
Fuming smoke and exhaling fire
It guards a den, Hell is its lair
Winged with furry, armed with rage
Night-mare demon that patrols The Cage

The Elusive Spy

A movement and a twitch but nothing is seen
A glimpse of something slim and lean
As soon as it is sighted it is lost to view
Though you don’t see it, it sees you
A creature so quick and cunning and sly
Camouflaged to hide, it is the elusive spy

Taurus Force

Beastly, strong, and built for battle
Taurus bulls are no ordinary cattle
A stampeding force, that sounds like thunder
They carry their riders to war and plunder
Shielded with armor, no sword can pierce
The massive herd looks like something fierce

Always Faithful
a psalm to God
by Kassia Halteman, age 18

Even if my world may crumble and all goes wrong
My God for You I’ll stand and be strong
Though the nations may laugh and the people may mock
My God You will always be my solid rock
When fear becomes controlling and doubts are growing
My God You remain patient, true, and loving
When my trials are overwhelming and life is painful
My God it is You who will always be faithful

The Phantom Hunter
By Kassia Halteman, Age 18

Lurking among the shadows and disdaining the light
Hides an evil predator who is invisible to human sight
A feared hunter, a soul seeker, and a killer by profession
It is blood thirsty and enslaved to its own evil obsession
It seeks for a stray soul in every dark and dismal hour
As a phantom in the night and as a lion it will devour
It awaits still and unnoticed, eagerly tense and ready for action
It blends with its surroundings and it mimics for attraction
The hunter catches sight of the slightest wrong motion
It observes this and plans out a deceitfully evil notion
The poor hunted soul is doomed by it’s unwary mistake
The killer takes the challenge, a venture it will not forsake
It starts on its death stalk, crouching low, keeping silent and slow
It approaches its prey with caution never fouling up, never letting go
It lingers for a vague moment and waits for the right timing
It makes its attack, as lightning it spans the distance as nothing
Never knowing what hit it, the victim is overpowered
The hunter inflicts the fatal bite and the prey is soon devoured

No one saw its crime, there was no one there to witness

But God alone saw it, He always knew about this
Thus ends the life of many lost and beguiled human souls
Who seek after their own pleasure and silly worthless goals
My friend if you do no know your purpose hear on earth
I assure you that to live for God is the only life of lasting worth
The devil is always lurking undetected in the shadows of sin
deceiving countless multitudes of vain women and men
His lies are beautifully packaged and his ways are enticing
But the end of sin leads to death and Hell everlasting
Jesus, the Son of God payed the price for our sinful deeds
He waits for us to turn to him with all our worries and needs
Serve God who deserves the praise from your every breath
And pray that you may go to Heaven on the day of your death

Always Your Friend
written when I lost a friend
by Kassia Halteman, age 20

I didn’t mean to say it that way
I never meant you any harm
I wish that we could replay it over
and change what was said and done
so now I am truly sorry
I hope you understand
you can say you never knew me
but you will always be my friend
I gave you my friendship
I will never take it back
You hurt me on the inside
I’m sure I’ve done it back
you can pretend that you can’t hear me
but I just want you to know
that even if I’m not your friend
I will always be a friend for you

The Hill Billy House Wife
by Kassia Halteman, age 20

You can call me pretty, you can call me sweet
but if you utter the truth I’ll knock you off your feet

You may call me an expert, You may call me a pro
but if you say anything less I’ll be sure to I’ll let you know

You can call me skinny, you can call me petite
but if I hear that I’m hefty I’ll nail you to the concrete

You can call me smart, you can call me clever
but if you state that I’m dense you’ll regret it forever

Some of my poems may be strange or unnerving but they all have a meaning behind them. If you have any comments or questions e-mail me at dreamwild128@gmail.com and I will e-mail you back.
